OPTIMIZING CONTENT

It's extremely important to optimize your content when adding it to the application.

This helps keep the size of the application and the initial download as small as possible. There are three types of content that can be used in your application.

IMAGES
Can be JPEGs or PNGs. The recommended size is four megabytes (4MB) or smaller. JPEGs are sometimes a smaller file size, but don’t have the option for transparency. PNGs are typically a larger file size, but they do offer transparency for buttons and other navigation items.
STEP 1
When working on Windows, open the JPEG file in the photos application that comes standard with Windows 11.
STEP 2
Click the three dots at the top of the screen and select “resize image.”  Then select “Define custom dimensions.”
STEP 3
Type in 2048 in the width (this is the constraint for Tablet size.) Drop the quality to 60%.
STEP 4
Rename and save as a new version.
STEP 5
Compare the new version with the original to ensure your quality is still good before uploading to the builder.
PDFs
Uploaded to the builder and available to be viewed in the application. The recommended size needs to be smaller than 12 megabytes (12MB). This will help loading speeds as well as initial download speeds.
The paid version of Acrobat Pro enables you to compress and save new versions of your PDFs on your device. The Acrobat online tool is also available at https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/online.html.
STEP 1
Select compress PDF from the website.
STEP 2
Upload PDF that needs optimization.
STEP 3
Select the HIGH compression level. It will estimate the new size for you.
STEP 4
Once compressed, download the new version back to your computer.
STEP 5
Compare the new version with the original and then upload to the builder.
VIDEOS
Uploaded to the builder and available to be viewed in the application. The recommended size needs to be smaller than 60 megabytes (60MB). Additionally, all videos are available offline so there will be no need for Wifi or waiting on downloads.
On Windows, use the photos application to compress a new version of the video.
STEP 1
Once inside the photos app on your computer, select “video editor.”
STEP 2
Select “new video project.”
STEP 3
Name the new project and select “Add+” to add the existing MP4 video file.
STEP 4
Drag the video to the timeline at the bottom of the screen.  Select “Finish Video,” in the top right corner.
STEP 5
Select Medium or 720p, export - and give the exported file a new name.
STEP 6
Compare the new version with the original, confirm that the video is less than 60MB and upload to the builder.
